I'm 44 and have been very irregular with my periods for the last few years. I'm on the pill (Yaz) and never miss any. I'm still irregular on the pill even though my GYN put me on it to try and regulate me. I sometimes get my period during the "active" pills and not during the "inactive" pills. My cycle would last anywhere from 3 days to 14 days and would be very light to severe. The last day of my last period was May 1st. I haven't had a period since then. I took a pregnancy test two weeks ago and it was negative. I have an appt. with my GYN but he can't see me until Sept. Is there a chance I could be pregnant or is this Perimenopause? I'm slightly concerned about pregnancy since I'm going on 3 months without a period although I have no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever. I've freaked myself out though by watching TLC's "I didn't know I was pregnant" lol.
Talk to your doc about it and perhaps, she/he will want to change your pill and see if that adjusts it better. There are pills that are higher and lower in estrogenHormone replacement therapy and progesterone etc. as I'm sure that you know so, a change of pill might be what you need.
Thanks for your logic, it's easy to get carried away watching some of those shows! I did do another pregnancy test and it was also negative. I never thought of switching bc pills, that makes sense, I'll ask my doctor about it when I see him in Sept. Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it!
Just wanted to give you an update. My GYN ordered an MRI for me and the results showed a condition called Adenomyosis and has recommended a partialPartial (focal) seizure Partial thromboplastin time (ptt) Thyroid gland removal hysterectomy which he is going to do laproscropically. Has anyone had a laproscropic partial? Is it an out patient procedure? He said it wouldn't be any worse than when I had my gallbladder removed (also laproscopically).
First of all, pregnancy tests are 97 to 99% accurate but, if in doubt, do one more. I highly doubt that you are pregnant (don't forget that most women on TLC's show do not think that they are pregnant and therefore, do NOT do a pregnancy test *smile*).
It's more likely that your hormones are flipping and flopping here and there and the birth control pill that you are using may need to be changed due to your differing hormone levels (vs. when you first started taking them).
