Please Help!!! Perimenopause???

I am 25, married with two kids. Daughter 6, son 16m old and still nursing. I got the depo shot back in January or February. Before that my hormones were all jacked up and my periods we heavy and lasted 4 months. I had enough and went in to get checked out. Of course there number one solution is to try birth control. The gyno told me depo should help my dysfunctional uterine bleeding... however it made matters worst and I bled for two months with abdominal pain and clots the size of golf balls, terrible mood swings and the like. The shot ended in May and I didn't go back for the second. Since then, I am still not ovulating..wasn't before the shot and certainly not after. I had two periods in May. I skipped the month of June. In July I had 4 periods, with only a week break in between. Each lasted for two weeks long and were heavy and very watery. I bled twice in  August. And just had a period from August 30th to Sep 5th which was very heavy and watery. So far I have had no more bleeding this month....yet. on top of the frequent periods my other symptoms are insomnia, fatigue from lack of sleep, mood swings, irritability, vaginal dryness, dry skin, hair shedding, frequent bathroom trips and I'm not pregnant, NO sex drive whatsoever.....my moods and low libido are affecting my husband but he's being very understanding. I on the other hand am feeling miserable, and helpless and tired of being frustrated. I worry if I'm going through perimenopause. I'm experiencing all symptoms other than hot flashes or cold sweats....I know many would say at 25? It's unlikely...but though it's not common it does happen to few. I know of another lady about my age who was perimenopausal unexpectedly and planned on having kids in the future and now she can't. Of course I won't know for sure until I get some blood test done... please any advice, or similar symptoms or experinces....thanks!

After a few years of heavy bleeding, huge clotting, and very irregular cycles (along with PCOS and another major health issue) I am at wits end. I am limited with what I can do with regards to treatment but homeopathic medicine sounds good to me! What all did you do other than acupuncture? I just want a break or some sort of regularity as I am tired of feeling like I walk with a pillow between my legs, 365 days a year!

I had the same experience but I'm already 49 and on perimenopausal stage. I sought alternative medicine after 3 gynaecologists advised me the same solution: partial hysterectomy with still possibility of bleeding or full, to include my healthy ovaries. Although I have no intention to have babies anymore, hysterectomy does not resonate with me. Losing my ovaries, I know, will do more havoc to my health. But my other concern is the severe anaemia and iron deficiency I was experiencing which worried my generalist doctor and my husband. So I resorted to energy healing which led me to a good homeopathy doctor who combined the treatment with acupuncture. After 4 days to homeopathic medicine, the bleeding stopped. After two months, my blood test for anaemia and other deficiencies got back to normal. My general doctor (general practitioner), was surprised with the result. I have to mention, my homeopathy doctor encouraged me to continue with Losferon, an allopathic medicine for iron deficiency. So I basically combined what was the best of both alternative and allopathic medicine. Hope you also get the underlying message of your health issue. Once you get this, recovery is quicker. Wishing you all the best.

Sorry you are dealing with this. Yes, it is unlikely to be perimenopause at your young age. I have heard of the Depo shot causing these types of symptoms. It can take some time for the menstrual cycle to normalize after starting birth control or going off birth control. A low dose birth control pill tends to be a better option / less side effects for the bulk of women so maybe you could try that.
