Postmenopausal bleeding

I am 52 and have been on HRT for 9 months. A week ago, I had small blood spotting and doctor removed cervical polyp. Over the last week, I have had intermittant brown spotting along with microscopic red drops (very very tiny0.  I have also had some cramping since the procedure.  Is this normal?

A. Polyps are very common.  They are usually attached to the cervix by a thin stalk and when that stalk is cut to remove the polyp, it can bleed or spot for a while. What you are experiencing sounds normal but if it continues over the next month, go in and have your doctor examine you.  Sometimes polyps return or are not completely removed.  There is also the possibility that the bleeding is due to something else.

Thank you.  I spoke with my doctor and this is exactly waht he said.  I am going to watch this over the next couple of weeks and if the bleeding continues, I will go in and we will do an endometrial biopsy.  Thanks very much!
