Hello. There didn’t seem to be a category that my question falls into so I chose menopause because it could be loosely related.
I’m 54 and have not had a period for over 18 mos., although I still suffer from severe hot flashes. I had a bone density test which showed I was pre-osteoporosis. I saw a rheumatologist and I went on Flosomax. He did a blood test for my vitamin D levels and it came back at 10, which actually kind of shocked him. He called in a prescription for vitamin D which I’ll take for 2 months and then recheck.
I inherited my mom’s bad knees and I had two full knee replacements in 5.5 months (one on 9/28/07 and the other on 2/28/08). They are not easy surgeries and with the last one I threw a PE. I’ve been feeling wiped out and achey for quite some time but attributed it to the surgeries.
Now, however, I’m beginning to wonder how much of the fatigue and lack of energy is due to a vitamin D deficiency. From what I’ve read it’s one of the symptoms. Do you agree? If so, how long after I begin the vitamin D will I start to feel better? I have zero-zippo-nada energy.
Thanks so much!
