Surg. Menopause and symptom relief HELP!

I am currently on .1 vivelle dot patch and I am doing okay.  I have no hot flashes, but I still have extreme dry eyes, vaginal dryness, and muscle aches in my upper back.  It seems the symptoms get worse one day before I am supposed to change the patch.  I have read that some women can burn through the estrogen quicker.  My dr. gave me samples of the Divigel to try instead.  I really want to stay on the patch bc of the ease of use.  I am wondering if I need a higher dose or if it just does not work for me totally.

Does anyone know a good supplement to help with those symptoms above.  I have read a little about Maca magic or Wisdom menopause formula.  They both seem to address the hot flashes and mood swings.  I don't have either and don't want to waste money.  Plus I have a thyroid problem and I am skeptical about what I take.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.....Hardest thing I have been through and a shock to my body....

If anyone else has had their ovaries removed, how long did it take to not have pain after surgery.  I am almost 6 weeks post op and still feel some pain.  I had my appendix removed too.  Dr. think it should be better and maybe I am having muscle spasms.  They are random and sometime severe.

Hi, Thanks

My dr. mentioned changing the patch sooner, but then you have an insurance issue.  I really want the lowest dose possible, but maybe .1 is not enough since it is surg. menopause it may be more difficult for me.  I have heard about the Wisdom menopause formula and also about Maca magic.  I may give it a try.  I just feel dry all over vaginal, eyes, and bottom.  UGH!

Hi Rasta,

Since you say that the symptoms get worse right before you change your patch, it sounds like you either need an increased dosage, or maybe you could ask your doctor if your can change your patch a bit sooner.

I use the Wisdom Menopause Formula, and I haven't had problems with vaginal dryness, but I kept my ovaries, so there's really no comparison. I'll ask some of the others I know if it has helped in those areas.

Also, you might want to ask your doctor about topical vaginal estrogens like Vagifem or Premarin Cream. These go straight to the source, and I've heard a lot of women say that they can really help.

As far as the dry eyes, I have no idea!
