US results - fluid in endometrial canal

Hi - I am 52-year-old woman and approximately 10 years postmenopausal.  I just had a diagnostic D & C due to a small amount of fluid being visualized in my endometrial canal on several ultrasounds (pelvic and trans).  Pelvic exam was normal, and my endometrial stripe is approximately 3 - 4 mm.  (My ovaries were not visualized on any of the US.)  My cervix was very stenotic, and by GYN is hopeful that the fluid retained is nothing to worry about and that it was merely trapped by the closed cervix.   I

I think your physician is taking a reasonable approach. This can be as innocent as a burst polyp or a blip in your hormone levels. I found Dr. Susan Love's Menopause and Hormone book and Dr. William Parker's A Gynecologist's Second Opinion very helpful to understand this period in my life. I am post-menopause too. Both say uterine bleeding can be an early sign of uterine cancer, but MOST uterine bleeding is NOT CANCER. Parker's book and website go into it more how to evaluate that further. I had a look through these books at a local bookstore, then went to my library and checked them out. Both authors have informative and reassuring websites.

Best of luck.
