Dear Elizakate, where are you located please and what's the name of the doctor you've seen for Pelvic Congestion Syndrom? I suffer from the same complaint for years and no doctor was able to diagnoze my pain.
Thank you for all the feedback. I am going thursday and I will keep you guys posted. It is really bothering me today. My back is killing me.
I am a 28 year old mother of 2. In June I started having strong pains in my left lower pelvic area along with lower pack pain, and at times pain that radiated all the way down my inner thighs to my knees.
All of my ultrasounds (transvaginal and abdominal) came back clear. They diagnosed me with Endometriosis even though they couldn't see any lesions. We tried switching birth controls and in November of 2010 when none of the other things were were trying worked I scheduled a Laparascopy to go in an removed the endometrial tissue. When they got inside they found nothing. No lesions, no cysts no cancer, nothing.
Turns out I have a much newer condition called Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. It is basically a cluster of vericose veins around your uterus. It is typically on the left side and can cause bloating, swelling, period like pains day in and day out. It's difficult to see on any ultrasound unless the Dr. knows what they are looking for.
I strongly recommend you look into the symptoms of Pelvice Congestion Syndrome and research and Interventional Radiologist in your area to have a consult. They will do an MRI with contrast to see the blood flow on your left side. I had an Embolization in January of 2011 and I am happy to say that almost ALL of my pain is gone.
The procedure is minimally invasive and you don't even need to be put under to have it done. Recovery time is about 2 weeks but I was back on my feet within 2 days.
I hope that you find what is causing you this pain....it's not an ideal way to live.
Yes, they had to remove the cyst, ovary and fallopian tube. They generally prefer to remove any cyst of any kind when it's over 5 cm due to possible rupture which would cause terrible pain or torsion (where the weight of the cyst causes the ovary to flip and twist which then becomes an emergency). I do hope you get some answers next week.
Thank you for that. I am going for a second opionion on Thursday. I am still in pain and started spotting again. I am bloated and my lower back is killing me like it does when you have your period. Did they do surgery to remove yours. Let me know what they did to take care of yours. :) Thanks so much for responding to me.
Were the ultrasounds transvaginal or just done on the outside of your tummy?
I was post menopausal when I developed a large cyst on my left ovary. Took me by surprise because I was sure my ovaries were retired, out of commission. But it happened anyway. The good news is that even though my cyst was 10 cm, it still turned out to be benign.
It's a good idea to get a second opinion. Something is causing the pain and it sounds like more than a pulled muscle. Any bloating or bowel problems?
