Vaginal Pressure and Pain- Yeast Infection???

I am 47- had a hysterectomy 5 years ago.  Intercourse has become painful since then due to dryness, so infrequent.  Had intercourse a week ago and a few days after, I noticed itching, burning and redness in the vulva and vaginal areas.  I don't know if I have ever had a yeast infection, but I bought OTC Monistat and used that two days ago.
Now I feel a sensation of pressure and pain in the vagina and lower abdomen, especially after exercise (i.e, walking).  The same thing happened last night after 45 minutes on the treadmill.

Is that common in a yeast infection?  Could it be something else?
