Weakness every couple of month - can be Menopause?

Hi,
I am 48 years old; I have two children 22 and 23. I had hysterectomy 2 years ago. This year I keep having problem recurring every 2-3 months. For 2-3 days I feel very tired, dizzy, and extremely sleepy. I am so weak, that I have to stay in bed for a couple of days. Then everything goes away and I feel normal.
I take 150mg Wellbutrin for my depression. I checked thyroid and it’s on low normal range. My iron level is normal.
Can it be menopause? It’s just strange that it happens not every month.
Thank you very much for your help.

It is difficult to tell what is the cause of your problem without more information, but perimenopause is a likely cause. Heart palpitations are common and can make a person feel dizzy and tired. Low blood sugar is another common cause.

Early in perimenopause, estrogen levels are actually normal or high and progesterone is low. Some women benefit from taking a low dose of progesterone. If it is possible, when you are feeling your symptoms, try to see your doctor and have your heart rate checked along with your hormone levels blood glucose level. That may be a good way to be sure what is causing the problem.
