What can I do?

What can I do?

I had a total hystorectomy back in 2001.  For what ever reason 3 days after the surgery I ended up in ICU with a blood clot in my right lung.  I started seeing a hemotologist who ran every test imagionable and could not figure out why. My protien C & S showed normal and it does not run in my family.  About 3 years later I was weened off of the coumidin.  Three days after a minor foot surgury I was back in the hospital with multiple PE's in both lungs.  I have been back on the coumidin ever since.
Unfortunately I have not been able to take any kind of hormone therapy since being on the coumidin.  I have even tried herbal remidys to help with the severe menopause symptoms but nothing helps.  I even had my primary care doctor run some blood test to  check if there were any hormones in my body at all.  NONE not a drop.  I am always exhausted, profuse sweating for no reason. Severe hot flashes at times.  Skin problems.  I even had a sleep study done , checked for RA & lupus,, you name it I have been tested for it and guess what? Nothing.  There has to be something I can do since I cannot take any hormones. Somebody has to know something I can do.

Good morning.  It sounds like you've been through hell and aren't back yet!  How awful for you.
The only herbal remedy that has helped me dramatically is Menersa.  You can buy it online.  But - you need to be patient as it takes a good 6-8 weeks to work and bam!  One morning I woke up and my 1st thought was how happy I felt.
I, too, was checked for Lupus & RA and didn't have it.
Taking the Menersa has made such a difference in how I feel.  I feel like a young woman - okay - maybe not a YOUNG woman, but you get what I mean.
Have you had your thyroid checked recently?  Low thyroid hormone can make one very sleepy.
Good thoughts to you.

Hi Isis!

I agree with Kesta, there are definitely some herbal products that DO work, but in your case you MUST be very careful!

A friend of mine was prescribed Coumarin (Warfarin) after knee replacement surgery, and we looked it up - as I'm sure you know, it is a major blood thinner, and I couldn't believe the number of drugs, herbs and even fruits and vegetables that she was told to avoid due to potentially dangerous interactions!

Here is a link to an article that lists many of the no-no's while taking Coumarin.

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/406896_2

The list is huge, and includes garlic, ginger, red clover (often found in menopause products), even celery and parsley are mentioned as possible problems.

I'm a big believer in Herbal remedies. Wisdom Menopause Formula has worked wonders for my hot flashes, night sweats and mood swings, but anyone who is taking Coumarin should be VERY careful.

Do yourself a favor, do your OWN research and THEN ask your doctor before you start using any new product.

Wish you all the best!
