There are lots of women who go through this type of thing and have posted on these boards.  You're not alone in this happening!

Of course, it does need to be evaluated.  All kinds of things can cause this to happen like a lot of stress in your life setting off hormone imbalances or, it may be due to thinning vaginal walls and dryness rather than uterine bleeding.  It may be an old fibroid acting up or, you're still producing enough estrogen (and not enough progesterone) to build up the uterine lining slowly and over time, it has become thickened and thus the bleeding now.

Best to make an appointment with your doc and at the least, get an ultrasound done to see whether fibroids may be to blame and what your uterine lining (endometrium) thickness is.  Most likely, they will do a biopsy on the endometrium because it is post menopausal bleeding (unless they find another physical cause).  It could even be a thyroid issue that's upsetting the hormonal balances.  A quick blood test can rule that in or out.  Your doc will tell you what he/she thinks needs to be done or not done.  Just know that it's not uncommon and a lot of women go through this but, it does need to be checked out....even if it stops again.  Better to be safe than sorry.

Sending you best wishes and hope that you'll come back and update us as your answers will help others going through the same thing.  :)
