brown spotting

I am 54 years old.  I was on depo provera for many years to treat heavy and non stop periods.  That worked but the MD took me off  a year ago.  I had one period on September 2007 and then no more. I had an ultra sound at that time and the uterine lining was fine.  Now in February 2008 I am experiencing extreme mood swings, sore breasts, migraine headaches  and now brown spotting/discharge.  I feel like I am having estrogen surges.  I am not having hot flashes but for the first time in my life I am always warm.  Just wondering if this  spotting is a normal process in transitioning into menopause.

I don't know if it is normal-  but I have it too.  I was prescribed angelique-  after horrible mood swings, and no period for 8 months.  Day 1 taking the hormones I felt like a new person-  it is my happy pill-  but now I bleed for a week- the not for 2 weeks--- and repeat,  but I am not wanting to tell the doc because I feel sooooo good.  I bleed brown goo,  sometimes turns to red-- then brown again.  I do know I need to tell the doc-  but I am afraid she will take me off what makes me feel good.
