burning tongue-lips

I have had burning tongue for 10 years now.  I have been too many Dr.s  who did not know what to do.  So I learned to live with it.  But now it has moved to my lips.  I had a cold about 4 weeks ago and since then my lips feel like they are on fire.  I have been using blistex, carmex, and vasaline.  But nothing seems to help.  When I wake in the morning they are swollen and very red.  But the burning feeling is like my tongue and I get this metalic taste in my mouth.  I googled it and saw that macafem may help.  I am going to try it.  Any other suggestions would also help.
