hormone treatment

My mom has been taking hormone treatments for approx. 8 years and has reacently started bleeding after having no period for several months.  I have been reading up on her hormone therapy, Femhrt, and being an estrogen based hormone shouldn't she be having a some what normal period?  Her doctor recently told her that she had endrometrial thickening and that he wants to do a DNC.  What concerns me more is that she has systemic lupus, and has told her doctor this, and he doesn't think that she should worry about Femhrt; eventhough it says do NOT use if you have Lupus.  Also, she says that she doesn't feel that she needs the hormone treatment anymore because her hot flashes are gone.  Apparently while waiting for a period of time between medication refills she noticed that she no longer had hot flashes.  Is it a good idea to get off of Femhrt?  She is stressed and started somking again which is not a good combination and I don't want to see anything bad happen to her.

Most drs. recommend getting off the hrt as soon as possible.  It sounds like she is there.  She should follow the advice of her dr. about getting the DNC and biopsy.  With her autoimmune disease, she will be at increased risk for several things.  You sound right on to me about your concerns.  Encourage her to talk more with her dr. and also to stop smoking!!!!!  You are a good daughter.  Best wishes.
