is gabapentin neurontin helpful in treating pain,hot flashes, and mood after total hysterectomy at 40 i had a bowel resection and large abdomial (abdominal) hernia repair at same time of hysterectomy and 7 months later i just got off wound vac due to open surgical wound and i think i have some nerve damage i still have partial open wound i have a nurse come twice a week i see my doctor every 2 weeks and my husband changes my dressings everyday i did have everything including both ovaries removed i am in alot of pain and depressed and the hot flashes are frequent and fierce

It sounds like you are having a lot of medical issues. Many women would feel depressed facing all that you have gone through: a major surgery, changes in your body, menopause, and more. Neurontin is used for hot flashes. It is often taken in dosages of 300 mg pills three times daily (900mg total). Talk with your doctor about this choice and also estrogen if that is a reasonable choice for you (you didn't mention why you had the surgery). Also talk with your doctor about getting a mental health person to work with you while you are dealing with these difficult issues. I hope you heal well soon.
