Hi flasunshine,  Thank you for the Kind note!  I wanted to tell  you what my GYN told me AFTER my Hysterectomy back in  1991.

I'm NOT able to take ANY type of estrogen as I have metabolism problems with my medications and the estrogen didn't do ANYTHiNG for my system at all. We even tried the estrogen patches and I was allergic to the adhesive that was used by that particular pharmaceutical company that made my patches. TERRIBLE itching and breaking out!! :(

SO, we had to go back to square one. It was TERRIBLE at night as I would awaken in a sweat that made me look as if I'd been taking a bath.  I came into her office one day from work and happened to have my Iced Tea with me (that I drank 24/7) and she asked me about my habits with Coffee and I told her that I didn't drink ANY coffee BUT I did drink Iced Tea (ALL of the time) and she suggested that I stop as the Caffeine would cause the Night Sweats and OTHER symptoms.  SOOO I quit ALL caffeine and within a week and a half to two weeks ALL symptoms had ceased!!!  IF you can handle NO Caffeine then you MIGHT be able to help your symptoms a GREAT deal!!!

I wish you the VERY best and PLEASE let me know if it helps!!........Sherry

PS  I KNOW how difficult it is to give up the caffeine.  It took me a LONG time to be able to stop the craving for the Iced Tea.  NOW after ALL of these years, I tried some not too long ago and I COULDN'T stand the taste any more.  I was amazed by that!!   :)

That's interesting about the sage...Will have to try that. We have some out in our garden.
Also, the bergamot oil. Thanks, moogli!

Have you tried a little melatonin yet, flasunshine? I divide a 3 milligram pill into four parts and take 1/4 of a pill to help me sleep. It also seems helps with the hot flashes. I take it about 15-30 minutes before bedtime.

Fo me, I find my hot flashes tend to be worse when I'm eating a lot of sweets and sugary stuff. My hot flashes are definitely less when I'm keeping up with a regular physical activity program, too.

--Good luck,
Yvette

hi, my menopause started suddenly after surgery, I wont be using HRT, but have faith in natural products. I've been using sage, making tea with fresh leaves which I take throughout the day, (its a bit yuk but you get used to it) and taking menoforce supplement,(pure sage extract) because night sweats are worse than day time hot flushes, I take the menoforce at night, I'm now getting wakened up later than before by around 2 hours a night. I also use bergamot essential oil, a few drops on a cotton wool pad, popped into my bra, so I get 'hits' throughout the day it is very calming and helps to regulate emotion, I've also cut caffeine and am trying to provide more plant eostrogen in my diet. Dont know if its 'all in the mind', but I'm coping better than I thought I would.Good luck.
