What sort of doctor did you see for these issues? It's hard for me to believe it was a gynecologist. He/she would know all the reasons intercourse can be painful and they would have tested for them. I don't know what the thickening of the walls of the uterus could indicate. Perhaps it's normal for us menopausal women to have that? What did this doctor tell you it meant? Sounds to me like he didn't tell you anything. And his remark that "bleeding wasn't normal considering you'd been in menopause for 7 years." So if it's NOT normal, what does he plan to do about it?
My input is that you should get a second opinion from a gynecologist. If that first doctor had given you what you went to him for...........namely answers, you wouldn't have to be writing to us now.
I hope you will seek a second opinion and get the care you deserve.
Let us know what you find out, OK?
Peace
