post-menopausal bleeding

I am a 54 year old woman,(280lbs). Had an endometrial biopsy over a year ago (prompted by thin, pink watery spotting). After the biopsy I was told that I had a slightly thickened uterine lining and that I should keep an eye on it. At my regular pap (a few months ago) I told my primary care doctor that not only had the bleeding not stopped, but that it had gotten more pronounced and more frequent. He sent me back to the OB/GYN where they started to look deeper into the symptoms. My concern is, that this process is all moving too slow. Two months ago for the pap, one month ago for the sonogram, another two weeks (mid january) before I see the GYN to tell me what happened with the sonogram, and after that another month (mid february) for a D&C. My concern is about how long this is all taking to diagnose. I live in a small town and appointments seem to be backed way up. In the last month my bleeding has become more pronounced. Red now, and daily. I am also having abdominal cramping almost continually. I am afraid that another two months would be harmful to wait, should this be something of concern (cancer!). Should I go and seek out someone who can see me faster? Is this delay potentially harmful? I am new to this computer stuff, and hope that I am in the right place. Don't know the difference between a blog and a message board (is that what this is?). but I'm giving it a shot. Hope that you all had a lovely holiday.
