spotting

Im 51 yrs old, have been 15 months without a period. I noticed a tiny , scant amount of blood on toilet tissue yesterday. nothing since then. At first I thought maybe it was from an external hemoroid. But then I wasnt sure. I got nervous and went online. I was terrified reading posts from women who were diagnosed with endometrial cancer with only the symptom of slight spotting. I have an appointment in two weeks with doc. could I really have cancer?

I know our minds tend to think the worst! But, thankfully, most cases of post-menopausal spotting or bleeding are nothing serious. Oftentimes, it's just some sporadic ovarian activity that can trigger a bleed. The ovaries never shut down; they continue  producing hormones our whole lives to keep us healthy. But other "benign" conditions can also cause spotting such as thin, atrophied vaginal or urogenital tissues.

Hopefully, you will fall into the majority where it's nothing serious! Please let us know what you find out.
