Hello B,
You seem to have done all possible tests to exclude other possibilities, may be now you should think of the treatment. The link I have given earlier from Rochester Medical Center talks of Nerve Block procedure both for confirmation and treatment and appears to be less invasive. The best thing to do is to consult such medical university centers who have got prior experience in dealing with this condition, since it is a rare health issue and ordinary hospitals may not be able to deal with it.
All the best,
Solace
...Although, I haven't tried any injections yet though. A little freaked out... but it may be coming to this soon.
Hello Solace21,
I haven't seen that exact page you liked me to. but it pretty much reads all the information I've come across.
I've seen three different Urologists. I've gone through all other possible procedures in the case that it could be something else. Cytoscopy, Ultrasound, MRI, Blood tests, Urine tests, semen tests. all of it. It's definitely Pelvic Floor Dysfunction which leads to Pudendal Neuralgia.
I really just want to know if I'm going through all these physical excercises and tests with no avail. Just a giant cycle to keep me feeling like I"m doing something about it. I've yet to hear anyone cured of it.
Thank you again for your concerns and link. I will read it over more thoroughly. I bought "Headache in the Pelvic" which also gives insight to the condition.
My best,
-B
Hello,
Sorry to learn that you have been through all these problems for more than an year.Having done all these tests why don't you consult a urologist also to eliminate the possibility of any problem with the prostate. As I understand, the confirmation of Pudendal Neuralgia is more by exclusion, rather than by direct diagnosis. Even though I am sure that you would have seen a lot of material from the net in the past one year, I would like to draw your attention to the following link:
http://www.urmc.rochester.edu/smd/Rad/Pudendal.pdf
May be you can contact them for treatment? Of immediate interest is the process of nerve block mentioned in the article to confirm the Neuralgia as well as for treatment. It also says that the condition can also affect urinary, anal and sexual functions.
When I started reading your first post, I was thinking of some cyst in the area and could not even think of the nerve as the cause. By the way, do you get any pain if you press the perineum area? Also, did you use to sit for long hours while working or used to engage in cycling for long? Any how, since you have been seen by many doctors, I would assume neuralgia as a possibility, but in any case, consult a urologist and possibly do an ultrasound of the prostate / bladder area to confirm there is no problem with those organs.
I am only a community member here trying to help you, please post your further progress in the treatment.
