Appear to have 'cracked' glans

I am a healthy uncircumsized 18 year old virgen and i have a girlfriend.
Although we have not had sex yet we still do a lot of things.
About 7 days ago i got hurt while having dry sex (just 'thrusting' but with clothes on). Soon after that the top of my penis was quite red and had cracks around the glans and rim. Since then i have been reasonably careful and the redness went away in a day or so but the cracks still remain.There are sevral cracks around the bottom of the glans and one long one which follows round the penis for about 1 cm or so. They don't hurt. At first i thought it was some sort of friction burn but they haven't healed yet. Today i started putting vaseline on it to see if it would help. Is this the right thing to do? Do you think these 'cracks' will go away? Is it serious?
