Bleeding Belly Button

My boyfriend is experiencing bleeding from his belly button and having alot of pain in his back. He is 29 and in shape and was doing fine until 12/23/09 when he started experiencing sharp pain in his stomach, around his belly button. He didn't think much of it at first but by Christmas Eve we were in emergency because he had begun bleeding from his belly button, his pain was still there and he started having a really sore back. He had cut off all excersize routines since the pain started in this stomach and had been pretty much laying on the couch only. Christmas Eve he had 4 hours of full body tests done (including tests for infection) and nothing was made of it. He went in for a ultersound on 12/28/09 and nothing was seen and the doctor there still had no conclusion. I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever expeirenced anything like this and what you did if you have? We are going to see a family doctor this coming up week to maybe get a CT scan, but if anyone has any answers or suggestions they are all welcome. Thanks:)
