Bump in my genital area

by helpme7541, Jan 31, 2007 12:00AM
Over the last week I have had a burning sensation in my groin and crotch area. I started looking around when it started burning (1 week ago today) and found a bump that looked almost like a pimple. The bump does not hurt and it looks the same as it did a week ago. The areas that I have been burning in are not very close to this bump either.  I went to the doctor and he ordered a herpes blood test and gave me some cream and now I have just about worried myself sick.  I haven't had sex in over a month and have never felt this way before. The doctor stated that there were a couple of other bumps down in the folds of my skin. But I have not been able to find them other than what feels like a painful pimple on my but cheek.  The bump does not hurt and I would have never known they were there if I had not looked. I have had mile pain in my joints but I have also been worried to death about this.  I am scared to death of having herpes, but the bump that I found last week looked the same this morning as it did 7 weeks ago.  Please help. Does this sound like herpes or am I worried too much?

To: typo
sorry, that was a typo in the last posting.  The bump looks the same as it did 7 days ago, not 7 weeks.  I checked it tonight and it appears to be going down some.

I think that you asked this question in the STD forum, I wrote there that it sounds more like folliculitis, as your symptoms are not typical for HSV.  The fact that the bump remained unchanged for more than 2 days points to the fact that it is not HSV.

Thank you.  I was scared to death though.
