CIRCUMCISSION POST OP - SWELLING, PLEASE HELP

Hi, I had my circumcision 5 days ago. The pain is bearable, I am on pain killers and anti-biotics for a possible infection.

I have noticed that i bleed very little, a few drops a day. My main concern that I seek answers for is -

My penis does not look circumcised, it has been 5 days and the skin still almost fully covers the head. Is this normall? It is very swollen, I cant see the stitches unless I pull the skin back a tiny bit (hurts to do this)

The shaft looks kind of normall but athe skin around the head is so swollen it looks out of proportion and like a mini egg ??? Could be fluid but im on antibiotics.....

I hear swelling should go down on 5 th day but it hasnt, any soloutions would be appreciated and just want to know if normal?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm not an expert on circumcision, but have had some surgeries of the scrotum and penis, bladder. I had a younger brother who got circumcised at the age of about 6. It took him a few weeks before his penis looked near mormal.

When I received surgery to have my left testicle removed due to a staph infection, the whole groin swelled up. It looked like my scrotum was the size of a grapefruit and my penis was hidden in the scrotum. Things looked like that for about two months. In my case they left the scrotum open to heal from the inside out due to the severity of the infection.

Your penis might not look circumcised if they removed only a small protion of the foreskin. If you were circumcised due to a tight foreskin, it is possible that the surgeon only removed the phimotic ring of the foreskin, leaving most of the foreskin intact.

I would not reccomend trying to retract the skin to see the stiches as this can irritate things by pulling on the circumcision scar. Be aware of any heat or foul smell of the area. This can be the indication of an infection.
One thing that might help for the swelling is the use of ice packs. I used it on my scrotum and was able to reduce some of the swelling.

If you are uncomfortable with the way things look by any means consult with a doctor.

All the best.

Ron
