Could low serotonin & testosterone levels cause IED?

I think my husband is suffering from Intermittent Explosive Disorder (his father has similar explosive behaviours) but he is particularly bad recently and the smallest thing going wrong or not working preoperly will cause him to over react by yelling, cursing and verbally abusing me. Could low seratonin and/or testosterone levels contribute to this embarassing and horrible behaviour? I have been reading many different website articles and there seems to be a connection here. Can these levels be tested? and if so how? Thanks for any help.
