Erectile Dysfunction/One testical

by mountainluvr, May 22, 2007 12:00AM
My boyfriend is 51 years old and lost a testical when injured with a hernia when he was younger.  He is unable to maintain an erection (even with Viagra) and has never ejaculated.  He has not been in a relationship with a woman until we met three years ago. I believe it is because of his sexual problem.  Is it possible, with practice, relaxation techniques ect. for him to ever ejaculate?

Let me clarify, he has never ejaculated when we have had sex or at least tried too.  He can keep an erection for a few minutes, but no climax.  What can I do to help him?

He is most likely suffering from primary testicular failure or primary hypogonadism. I am willing to bet the problem is hormonal. Get a full hormone profile run and include the following:

Total T
Free T
Estridol
LH/FSH
TSH
Free T4/T3
Prolactin
DHT

Thank you,

Now if the problem is hormonal, Primary Testicular failure/Primary Hypogonadism..exactly what are those, what is the treatment and what would it do?  Does he need to go to a Urologist or would his primary doctor be able to run those tests?

The testicles have two main purposes, the first one being to produce testosterone and the second to produce sperm. Your husband has reached a normal age where testosterone levels drop (known as the andropause), so it's possible that his remaining testicle still functions normally but has simply downregulated function due to normal aging. Testosterone is the most potent sex hormone and responsible for male characteristics, libido, etc. It also has many more inportant roles such as keeping bones, heart, vascular system in order.

Primary hypogonadism is failure of the testicles to produce enough testosterone to support a healthly living/lifestyle. Please check wikipedia for a fuller description.

I wouldn't recommend a GP, endo or urologists for treating this. I would recommend going to anti-aging clinic where this will be treated properly.
