HIV + STD freak out continued..

by iamsostupid, Mar 02, 2007 12:00AM
pls see post before...... I've also noticed my rectum has been itchy & I've had some diareah bouts, & I've had sensitive & itchy eyes but not all the time. my throat feels dry & I have a white coating on my tongue.I'm so worried that I have picked up HIV & have passed it onto my partner.  she is breastfeeding so there is a high risk that she could pass it onto our son if she is infected from me. I am near suicidal & have gone for a test at the GUM clinic 1 week after exposure, & on tuesday I get results.  The initial test for UTI infections were negative but they said that they have to send the results to the labortary to be cultured to check for chlymidia / gonoreah bacteria. I have betrayed my family and the ones I love and will kills myself if I have passed anything on.  I know until I have my results nothing will help me..  some advice on anxiety and likelyhood of having caught something would be great. thanks you in advance.

dude, relax. i know how tough it is. trust me there is a whole lot of people with the same symtoms as you who had a similar risk as yourself who have tested negative. suicide is not the answer.  search the archives on hiv transmission, time to positive hiv test, also on unprotected vaginal sex, or go and read current threads in doctor to pt forum, hiv prevention and safe sex, dude i am former worry well.

when was you exposure?????

by sparkeler, Mar 02, 2007 12:00AM
What was your exposure?  Relax.  Symptoms never indicate hiv b/c hiv symptoms are common with so many other things.  It's good that you went & got yourself checked out to be safe.  But I think the worst case scenario would be a more common std.  I cannot really assess your risk thought unless I know about what took place.

Ok, read your risk.  About a 1/2000 chance you picked up hiv from a one time vaginal exposure.  Like a said if you contracted anything it would have been a more common std like chlamydia.  I think your  just panicking b/c you are feeling extreme guilt over your infedelity.  Try & relax, ok?

Relax, wait for the tests. Try praying, that's what I've been doing.

Best,

thank you for your response guys.  I'm still freaked and probs only a negagtive test result will void this feeling.  I still have swollen lymph glands in my groin area.. and glands around my body feel sensitive but not overly swollen.  my partner has heavy bleeding but we are not sure if its her period starting as she gave birth 2 months ago or I'm thinking an std which is causing abnormal symptoms.
she doesn't have swollen glands though.  I feel so nauseous and general fatigue however I don't know if this is attributed to my anxeity as I've got this on my mind 24/7.  I don't have any burning in my penis, though I get a slight tingle on the outside area with no visible sores or anything - not sure if this is hyper sensitivity to my body now.  does anxiety cause painful muscles and symptoms you can attribute to hiv symptoms?  my biggest worry is that I have passed on this infection to my 2month old son.. its killing me!

thanks again.

I am almost in a similar situation. Except, it's just me.  I will Pray for you and I.  Although my test came back negative. I won't feel comfortable at least until a year has past.

How are you doing?  Since I work across the street from my doctor. I went over to his office and almost demanded to see him today. The Nurse stoodfast and told me I had to wait until my appointment Friday.  If only  I had a time machine and can go back in time.  I have decided to begin a journal.  PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!
