I read about HPV2 being able to be "cleared" by the body within 6 months to 2 years, then I also read that its a life-long thing and I will carry it forever. The messages are very confusing. Will my immune system totally clear this from my system over a certain period of time?
If not, will I be contagious to those I am in sexual contact with for the rest of my life? :(
HPV will eventually shed itself. It is highly contagious, but most of the population will contract (or has contracted) some strand of the virus in their lifetime. You cannot be reinfected with the same strand twice, however it may take a while before the virus sheds. You will need to have your wart frozen off, and it's a 50/50 shot it will return. But over time it WILL leave your system. You may pass the virus on to someone else now, but it may lay dormant in their system, i.e., they may never develop a wart. HPV is a very confusing disease, but it isn't a huge health threat, in MOST cases anyway.
