How to be sure that you ejaculated into your partner

I am 28, Male . Me and my wife are trying to conveive for the last couple of months and have not been very successful and I have of late realized that at times my penis retracts and is dry- and I am not sure if I have really ejacualted or not. Post Sex- If I do masturbate, I do get the semen out.  How can I  be sure that I did it right?.

I havent had a sense that I am going to release while having sex. My wife tells me though that she feel's that something has been released and on checking the vagina at times- I do notice a white seminal like fluid.

Am I doing it right? What causes a dry ejaculation at times?
