Left side groin pain, sometimes in hip and buttocks. Any ideas?

Not sure if I'm in the right forum.
I've had a pain just above my scrotum area on the left side for a couple of months radiating down to the left testicle. Sometimes in my hip and buttocks and sometimes down my left leg. I went to the doc and had a CT scan and it was negative so I'm really confused. I'm 43 and I do a lot of walking in my job. I've been off on vacation for about a week, but pain is still there. Just curious if anyone else has had these same symptoms.

Hi,
Since your CT scan is clear, it may be due to the stress at work, but nevertheless, there is  still some weak point in the area, which has not aggravated  to a level to be shown up in the scan. What did the doctor say after the test results? May be if you do some regular muscle relaxing exercises or Yogas, the problem may go after some time.
Some  possibilities that come to my mind are :
- an inguinal hernia in the making ( an inguinal hernia may not show up always )
- a pinched nerve at the lower back
- Urinary Tract Infection ( May be urine testing required? )

Which doctor did you consult?, a Urologist or Physician? , it worthwhile to get a second opinion from another doctor? since your problem is still there.

I went to the doctor for, what I thought was, Urinary tract infection. It was negative although I did have a prostate infection (I had burning urination, etc. I took Cipro for 10 days and it cleared up) ,but he said that that shouldn't have anything to do with the hip, back, buttocks and the left side groin pain. I have had that pain for a pretty good while now. I did notice one thing. The pain would get worse with the more I moved at work (I'm a mail man so I walk all day). One guy at work said he had the same symptoms and that my hip was wearing out.

After I told him about the pain was when he sent me for a CT scan which turned out to be negative. He suggested that I pulled something. The pain seems to be getting worse. Is there a site where I can look up stretches, etc for this sort of thing?

Hi,
You have not mentioned whether you consulted a physician, a urologist or an orthopedician. Also CT scan of which part was taken?
If you suspect bone wearing out, you should consult an orthopedician, who will guide you through exercises and medications. With your profession, it is likely to be a bone wear out situation. Instead of  following instructions from a site, it is all the more important to get the present status of your bones evaluated by a doctor and take appropriate treatment. Based on info from some sites if you do exercises in excess, it can affect you badly, so a doctor's guidance is necessary.

Thanks so much for your input.

It was just a "Doc in the Box" general physician. The CT scan was taken of my complete abdomen down to scrotum area. They were concentrating on stones. He said the whole CT was clear. I've noticed when I sit it gets a little worse and at times it's radiating down my left leg. I'm starting to think maybe something muscle or tendon oriented from being so active. I read track and field athletes go through the same thing. I can , pretty much, deal with it but this left side groin pain is very annoying. My dad said bursitis?

Hi,
I think you should consult an Orthopedician with the CT report. You may need to check if your Calcium and Vitamin D intake is adequate. Also, there are many muscle and joint relaxing ointments available in the market. After applying such balms in the hip area, wait for ten minutes and then sit in a warm ( not very hot) water sitz bath for about 20 minutes to relax the joints and muscles. This procedure once in a day would be very helpfull if the Ortho does not find any major problem.
