Liver Counts

My husband does not drink and rarely smokes he eats very healthy yet his liver enyemes count was at 189 and with blood results back it is now at 230 his ALT count was at 80 and with the blood test back it as increased to 110 and his AST count was at 65 which has increased to 80 what could be the cause of this sudden increase? The doctors are running some more blood but they are stumped like we are we just want some answers as to what the problem may be. His dad died at the age of 49 from liver cancer but he was also a very heavy drinker which my husband is not and the worst thing about it is my husband is only 24 years old. If you could give me some answers we would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
  Sincerly,

Hey there,

I am a 21 year old male, and I have a high alkaline phosphatase level in my blood stream. My doctor is stumped as to the cause. He has ruled out hepatitis since the alkaline level is not high enough for acute and my other enzymes are not affected, which rules out anything for chronic hepatitis. I feel fine though, and my doctor has said it probably is nothing to worry about, but just to keep on eye on it. Sometimes the body overproduces enzymes without any apparent reason. I would tell your husband not to stress about it, but to keep it in mind.

Some medications can cause elevated liver enzymes. Also, has he been tested for hepatitis?
