Low Testosterone Treatment

I'm a 41 year old male with low-T (free T: 23.2; Total T: 141).  My Endo prescribed Androderm 5mg patches daily, and it took about 4 days and I suddenly felt great: no depression, lots of energy & vigor, libido was up, I was outgoing and excited about life.  After feeling great for 1 day, the effects disappeared and I am back to the same drained and low-energy shell of a human.  (I had this same experience when I was 33 when originally diagnosed with Low-T: felt great for a day and then I felt terrible again, which is why I originally stopped treatment).

So my Endo increased the dosage to 10mg, and still no change in energy or mood. We then switched to Enanthate injections - I had my first last week of 75mg, and I felt a little better for 2 days and then the effects are gone again.

Might there be some other problem associated with the way my body absorbs and uses Testosterone?  Even after the injection I'm feeling down, low energy, and can cry at the slightest little thing - my emotions are all out of whack.

What can I do to achieve that same feeling that Androgel & Androderm gave me, but only for one day?  Thank you

Arimadex should solve the symptoms but not the root problem.   Good luck but your doctor should be looking for the root of the problem.   I believe too much arimadex can cause more problems.

Since being tested high for Estradiol, I've had a testicular ultrasound and a CT scan on my adrenal glands.  Neither showed any tumors, so I've been diagnosed with Excess Aromotase Syndrome and my doctor is prescribing Arimidex.

I just had it tested and my Estradiol level is 67.  The lab report says the level should be <56 pg/mL.  I'll talk to my Endo, but any ideas on what causes high Estradiol levels in a 41 year old male?  I don't drink or smoke, have a healthy diet and exercise regularly.  Thanks for the help and suggestion to get it tested - I think I'm closer to figuring out what is wrong.

What's your estradiol level?  If it's high it interferes with the function of testosterone.  Aromatase inhibitors are prescribed for that.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, my Free Testosterone is 23.2 pg/ml and Total is 141 ng/dl.  I'm seeing my Endo tomorrow and will ask him about this.  Again, thanks very much.

Hi,
Is your free testosterone 23.2 pg/ml and total testo only 141 ng/dl ? If so it appears to me that even though your total testo is far below the minimum range, the free is very much high within the range. It suggests that the SHBG level is too low and it could be an indicator of Type 2 Diabetes. With such high value of free testo, if you further supplement  more testo, your testes production may further come down so that added testo may not have an effect and may not be required either. This is only my opinion and need not be correct, you should get the correct opinion from an expert Endo.
