Lump in scrotum

I notice a painless "BB" sized lump in my scotum that is on top of my right testicle and is not attached from the testicle. My physician said it was an inflammed lymph node. I have never heard of that and it hasn't gone away. Has anyone ever heard of this? Should I be concerned?
