Lumps on the Penis

My husband and i have been married for 5 yrs..On the underside of his penis he has always had very large pores which at times has dry white stuff that you can squeeze out, kind of like a pimple but its dry..You can actually see tunnels of the stuff that leads to the pore opening..It doesnt hurt but he is very self conscious of it..Anyways, twice now he has developed a large lump that is hard, red and sore..Nothing comes out of it , it feels very hard under the surface..he is very concerned abt it..I had twins last yr and was tested for herpes and it was negative, so is there anyway his could be that or something else??
