Mixing electrolytes with alcohol

by fcassi, Sep 25, 2009 04:31PM
Is it safe to mix sports drinks (electrolytes) with liquor? What is the maximum amount of electrolytes a person can take while consuming alcohol? Could that be harmful?

I'm more curious as to why you want to do that? Are you planning on a big night out and need staying power?
Many of the sports drinks have excess caffeine in them, which will give you the energy. The electrolytes are not an issue. It certainly won't kill you but it is not advisable to take them with booze. Alcohol depletes the body of water and Vit B so it would be better to drink a ton of water and take some Vit B rather than a sports drink. Then you can rock on all night long!
