Pain in Penis Shaft

My boyfriend has a burning pain in his penis shaft while erect and before he urinates. Can you be able to tell me what you think the problem may be? We are in a secure menogamous relationship, so if its something like an STD it would have been kind of difficult to extract it from someone else.
