Penis pain

Hi, for 3 months ive been experiencing problems in my penis following a rough hand job from a sex worker. Im uncircumcised and she wasnt particularly careful which resulted in a small 'paper cut' (about 1mm) inside the meatus opening. This was confirmed by my local sexual health clinic (and again by my GP) who did a check for Gon, Cla and HSV2 which came back negative, there are no other indicaters of an std. Since then however ive experienced at first weird itchiness for 2 months which was eventually diagnosed as thrush. I applied Canesten cream for a week and the itchiness went away for a few days so I stopped. However it came back so applied it for two more days and it stopped for a little while once again, before coming back. I checked with my GP and he said to reapply it for 2 weeks, 3 times a day. I've been doing so for 10 days and the itch has been gone for nearly a week but I started to notice the meatus lips were getting a bit 'stingy' a few days ago. Yesterday they actually started to hurt and this morning when i pulled back my foreskin to check, the lips at first appeared normal but that started to swell a little and the pain escalated. Im concerned that the initial encounter damage the interior of my glans and that the canesten (which is a topical steroid for antifungal treatment) has caused some sort of further damage through over use. Obviously im a little freaked out about it so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

some more info, i was advised to make sure my glans as clean and dry after every time i pee. So i was patting the head dry with tissue paper each time i went. Im wondering if this has upset the nerves in the meatus even more.

sorry should also have mentioned that the pain comes and goes. its not constant, in the past theres been a few days when ive been symptom free. After having discomfort the pain this morning, everything has died down. Checking the glans it does look very dry down there.
right, a quick update. things are better this morning and i think its down to one simple trick. I left it alone. I didnt wash and dry the glans after every trip to the toilet and i didnt wash \ dry at the end of the day. I had this hunch before but i figure my docs advise to keep it clean and dry all the time is a bit off. Im uncircumsised and my guess is the nerves just cant handle it. Theres 20,000 nerves in the foreskin so frequent washing \ drying is setting them off. Its not 100% right now but its a damn site better than it wash yesterday. It looks better as well, less red and inflamed.
