Red/Pink bumps on my body

by ChuckyCheese, Jul 12, 2007 12:00AM
I had sex with someone about 4 weeks ago.  I used protection.  About two weeks after that, I broke out in my pubic region.  My first thought was Pubic Lice.  So I run to the store and by Permethrin.  I used it that morning and then again that night.  I was still itching really bad two days later so I go to the doctor and he said that it was probably lice and gave me triamcinolone for the itching.  Most of the bumps seem to have gone away except one and it still itched some.  Now I am noticing really small reddish/pink bumps along my legs and thigh.  Then yeterday, which was about a week after I went to the doctor, I got a bump right below my lip which has a little dimple in it.  Is there something to worry about?  Could it be an STD?  I am worried sick over this.  If you need anymore info, please ask.  Thanks in Advance.

If it has a little dimple in the center it may be mcv (molluscum contagiousum virus) Don't get freaked I've been diagnosed with this over 6 years ago. There is no cure but it is not permanent. If it is mcv then when you squeeze the lesion it will have a white waxy fluid that will come out. Of this is the case the best thing you can do is not to scratch them as they are very contagious and contact with what is in the lesion is how the virus spreads. It is a disease that was originally in young children and in the recent years have been classified as an std. Not to worry most cases resolve their selves, but the lesions can persist from two months to two years from what I have read. Some places say up to 4 years. There are several treatments to remove them quicker. Most people who have them build kind of a tolerance against them and it is not a reoccurring disease like herpes. Normal treatments are have them burned of or cryosurgery, in which liquid nitrogen is used to freeze and destroy lesions. I had them removed with acid, both of these cause scaring. If I had it to do over I wouldn't have had that done. With mcv the incubation period is between 2 weeks to 6 months meaning that other areas of skin which came into contact with the lesions can have an out break later, that is what happened with me. Another option that I tried that worked real well is using apple cider vinegar. Soak a cotton ball with the vinegar and place it over the lesions for 24 hours and when you remove the patch and let it dry all that will be left is scabs. This also caused scarring for me but finally resolved my problem. Other methods I have read about is Australian lemon myrtle which an extract of essential oil of Australian lemon myrtle which you use as a topical ointment and does not cause scarring. I have never tried this my self so I don't know how well it works. Also I came across a product called molluscum silver. Here is there site www.molluscum.com. I was a bit skeptical about this but apparently people have been getting really good results. Also you may want to google it for molluscum contagiosum virus and then click on images and compare the images to you bumps and see if they look the same. If it does turn out to be mcv then you should probably use different towels and soap then your spouse or partner. The best thing to do is to put a bandage over it and avoid any contact with the lesions with any particals of clothing that may touch other areas of your skin or somebody elses. If you don't have many lesions then maybe buying some iodine or alcohol and a sterile need. Rub the alcohol or iodine on your skin first then use a sterile needle and  cutting across the indentions in the center and and using a cotton ball soaked in the iodine or alchol to remove the waxy center.

It doesnt cause any major problems some people claim that it itches. The biggest problem is that it is persistent and very contagious.

I hope this helps you because when I had this problem I was traumatized. Now that I look back its not that big of a deal and there are alot worse things out there. Keep in mind I am not a docter, but when I saw your post I just wanted to warn you about the scarring. Be patient and careful, visit a dermatologist and think carefully about what action you want to take.
