Somach Pain Upper left Quadrant

I've had this pain and sensation like a sun burn on the upper left side of my somach/rib cage area for about a month now. The pain goes all the way around to my middle back.  At first I thought it was a muscle strain that occured when lifting a bicycle out of the back of my pick up truck.  Not so sure now.. it's a sharp pain at times or just a dull ache that just won't go away.  

Any ideas..?  Not insured so I've been putting off going to a doctor.
