Sports Injury: Groin, Stomach and Back

Prior to my condition, I was playing 5 a side football once a week sometimes twice a week. Seven months or so ago, I seem to strain a muscle in my lower stomach whilst asleep or stretching high for something which still has not recovered. This has led to inflamed groins, on both sides. I've tried anti-inflammatory pain killers (neurofen) to help to see if I can play football again, but unfortunately 20 minutes in and I can not run anymore. My lower back is now rather uncomfortable (LHS - in particular)

The Doctor's have no idea or diagnosis result's; checked for hernia, had a CT scan to rule out anything threatening, ultra sound in my abdomen - but everything was ok. Have been referred to a physio who is struggling to find an answer.

The worst this condition is when I am lying down at night, I find it very difficult in turning, rolling and getting out of bed in the morning. It's almost as if the troubled areas become inflamed again at night.

I am a 44 years, don't smoke or drink, a lot but I feel like a rather broken down man who can't participate with the other dads for a 5 a side kick about. Any advice would hugely be appreciated.

Hello,
Only thing I can advise you is to continue the diagnosis, if one doctor could not find it, go to another doctor, it happens some times.Since you have got problems with both sides, it is more likely to be a problem with the lower spine. You should consult a good orthopaedician or even better, to visit a sports injury clinic. A detailed CT/MRI of the lower spine may reveal the real problem.

Good luck,

Thanks for the advice Solace21. I've continued with my exercises and am visiting a physio next week who mentioned that he would speak to a specialist for further examination.

I tried a light jog yesterday, made twenty feet and could not run anymore due to the pain in my stomach :(

Keep the faith! Hey!!
