Sudden Headache back of head, 3rd day,

by ReasonToWorry?, May 11, 2006 12:00AM
I am concerned for my boyfriend's health. For three days now he has been suffering from a bad headache. He never gets headaches. He described it as being at the back of his head right in the center, but higher than where it would hurt if it were say neck or shoulder strain.  He is 33,of hispanic heritage, and most likely a diabetic. (His father died this year w/ both legs amputated at the knees from diabeties.) He is overweight, and has poor circulation.(You can tell by his feet swelling and going numb by the time he wakes up in the morning. I'm afraid it gets worse. He also smokes about a pack a day.  Recently he started work again. He is the shipping guys for a local packing hose. I thought the physical activity-though limited- would be good for him.Except this year he has been doing work outside of the cooler in 90+ heat. This like landscaping. I'm concerned that he might be having a stroke or something.  Bascially, I need to know, are the chances high that this could be something more serious than just a headache given he's not the perfect picture of health? Should I insist that he seek medical advice...even though he has no health insurace? He always says I assume the worst; but for a man who never complains to be holding his head when he comes home, becasue the pain has elevated to excruciating, I feel I reson to worry! Please shed some light on any possible conditions he's at risk for that have this terrible headache as a symptom/sign. ---Sincerely, ReasonToWorry?

Hi,I would let him get checked. It could be many things, one thing that is worring me is his blood pressure could be to high. Also the fact that he is a diabetic, can have many problems by itself. He may have just pull a muscle since he had been out of work and is doing hard labor. He could have a whiplash or a cervical sprain. Both of these can and sometimes do cause headaches in the area you are speaking of.Just to be on the safe side get him check.ASAP.Good luck kept us posted.

The headache is still with him. He gets a little relief when he takes 2 500mg acetaminophen capsuls, but says he can still feel where the headache was. I just hope I can get him to get a complete physical done somewhere before anything happens. He just has an incerdible tolerance to pain, so when he finally mentions something is bothering him- I know by most peoples' pain scale, he's experiencing a bit.
Do you suppose there's any truth in his belief that there's no point in him going to a doctor to tell him something he pretty much already knows? He feels like if he gets confirmation from a Dr., that it'll "set it in stone". I guess almost like as long as something isn't official, he kinda has this "mind over matter" thing goin' and I guess that prolongs the inevitable.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

Don't know if this will help, but it sounds a lot like the same problem my husband used to have.Constant headaches, poor circulation, high blood pressure. He used to get thru a bottle of tylenol a week.
A friend of ours recently introduced us to an all natural drink called monavie. He told us he had heard stories from all kinds of people with all sorts of medical problems and this stuff had helped get rid of most of them.My husband has been taking it for just over a month and has been pain free after just a few days of taking it.His headaches have gone, back pain, shoulder pain and even his blood pressure has come down. You can contact the guy thru his web site..Hope it works for your husband like it has mine...  http://www.mymonavie.com/knight06
