Uncomfortable, tingling, prickling thigh sensations

by confused1234, Jan 05, 2007 12:00AM
I am a 27 year old man. I have had symptoms now on and off for the past 18 months. I feel a tingling, prickling, almost burning type of sensation in my thighs on a continual basis. It is usually centred around the inside and backs of the thighs at the top. It is not painful but very uncomfortable and is most noticeable when I sit down. It used to happen every couple of months and last constantly for about 2 weeks, however gradually the sensations have come more frequently and lasted for longer, so much so that now I am experiencing it more often than not. Initially I experienced some other symptoms at the same time, particularly itchiness in the groin and pain in the penis, but these symptoms have basically gone and now all I really suffer from is the thigh pain.

I have been tested and re-tested for STDs and am confident that the symptoms are not caused by any STDs. I have seen a neurologist and had an MRI which was clear. I have seen a urologist who diagnosed type 3 prostatitis; I have had 2 courses of ciproxin that have not helped, he has also performed a cystoscopy and prostatic massage and sent prostatic fluid samples off to test, all of which came back negative for anything.

I am willing to accept the nature of prostatis and that that is what may be causing these problems but I do not have any of the other typical prostatitis symptoms. The fact that I have not had a positive test result for anything means that I still can't be sure exactly what is wrong.

This is very distressing for me, if anyone can offer me any advice I would be very grateful.

Thank You
