What's it like taking Androgel?

What's it like taking Androgel?

When I was in my late teens, I got diagnosed with low testosterone. I took the shots, but they hurt and left a bruise. So I quit taking them after a few treatments. I'm in my mid 30's now. I recently made an appointment to see my brothers doctor about it to get my levels rechecked and get back on testosterone therapy. The family thinks it will help my mood, I've been depressed a lot during my adult life. My brother got tested last year and is on Androgel, and he swears it helps him, and our parents also says it helps him. They're all part of the reason for my deciding to get rechecked, that and the possibility of getting treated without taking shots. Anyhow, I'll probably end up taking this androgel stuff if the tests results end up the way I figure they're going to end up. So I want to know more about it.

1. I heard it causes rashes, can I switch the spots I use it on?
2. I can't smell, genetic trait. Does Androgel smell bad at all, when wet or dry? Will my co-workers notice it if I apply it before work?
3. I can't remember what the changes were like. What can I expect? What changes actually occur during treatments (mood, energy, sex drive, emotions, erections, sperm count, etc)?
4. Does the medicine sting or hurt when applying it?
5. How much does it usually cost, without insurance?
6. Is there anything specific I should ask the doctor about low testosterone when I go in?
7. It's been 15+ years since I've seen a doctor for this kind of thing. I can't remember much about it except for that embarrassing test where the doctor looks at the testes, and of course those damn shots. Is there anything else I should know about or be aware of before going into the doctors office?

Hi,
It all depends upon how low are you on testo and if your body is capable of producing enough for your well being. Needless to say that if you are within the normal healthy range, you should not resort to replacement, and to decide that you should cosult your Endo and follow his advice.
