bleeding from navel

Hi! My brother is a 24 year old hispanic. I am concerned because he lived with me for about one month and about 5 times i noticed alot of blood on the sheets. I asked him if he had had a bloody nose and he said no  that he bled from his belly button. He said there was no pain that it would bleed and then stop. I was concerned and want to know more.. Any information would help. He has no sign of a hernia.

I too have this problem... for the past year, my navel bleeds. I suspect that it is torn skin. I lost over 100 pounds in a year... Since I lost my weight quickly, I have excess skin. So, I'm guessing that my problem is that my skin has yet to re-adjust itself.

BTW, I did visit 2 doctors, both basically told me to just keep it clean with plain warm water with a mild soap. Don't dig into it. and don't stick anything into your navel.

Just a side note, I have read that the excess skin can take upto 2 years to disappear. So, I'm guessing that short of surgery, I have another year to go before this problem should go away...

I am 28 and I have had this happen to me 2 or 3 times in the past year.  I am overweight, about 250lbs and 6 feet 2 inches tall.  It started hurting a few days ago.  When I put pressure on it it is a slight pain.  Today it just started bleeding and pussed up.  Its freaking me out quite a bit.  Who bleeds from their belly button?  Can anyone help sloppy or myself?  If I have to ill go to the doctor but I really dont want to.

Back in July of 07 I jumped very high in the air to hit a tennis ball and my belly button hurt. Ithought nothing of it. Later that night i noitced blood in my belly button and went to the ER. They took XRAYS and told me to see my primary and not to worry too much. My primary sent me to a surgeon to see if it was herniated, it was not.The surgeon said it was probably a tear and that it may be a cyst. He said not to worry and to keep track of it and clean it but not monkey with it.

It went away and has been fine. The other day I bought a jumprope to get into better health and jumped a bit and that night it bleed again. Had discharge and blood for a few days. My bellybutton also hurts in the center and kind of at the top of the inside. I suspect i tear it because im obese and the skin is thin. GL to all with this condition..post me back
