growth hormone side effects???

I am 19 years old. I am a genetically thin person I am 6'3 and I only wiegh 135 pounds. Over the past year and a half I have worked out every other day and eaten properly , and gained probabaly about 12 to 13 pounds of muscle, but my body has now hit a plateau and simply does not want to grow any larger. The only reason I would consider taking them (growth hormone) would be to help me break out of my thin genetic mold and gain some muscle mass that would actual stay with me other than taking anabolic steroids and having the weight I gain just dimenish after I stop use.The horomne I have heard of is IGF-1 this would be the one I would consider taking. I just want to know If I am still to young for anything like this. If I do take it it wont be for long probabaly about a month I have heard is all I would need.I also want to know what the side effects are if any.

I am the mother of a 12 year old boy who has battled Leukemia since he was 6 months old. He went thru a bone morrow transplant at 10 months of age and his last relapse was at age 7. He has done a total of 7 years straight of chemo and has had a lot of radiation.
I am having a hard time making yet another life risking decision for him any information or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
He will be 13 in July and right now he is the size of a 5 year old which is making life difficult for him. Our doctors are saying he isn't growing like he should because of all the raditaion and other drugs he had to be given for the cancer. All of his glands are badly damaged and not producing much to any.
The doctors are on me wanting to give him growth hormone shots daily and also say he will need to take male hormones a few shots a week or month for the rest of his life or he will never produce body hair and have a voice change.
They are telling me if we do this it has to be started before his growth plates start to close or it will do no good. At one time I had it all set up to start and once the meds arrived did I realize some of the possible side effects. They never told me of any side effects I had to read that one on my own.
He has been thru so much now and when I found out Leukemia and Brain cancer were some possible side effects I refused to give this to him thought I would rather have him alive as to take a chance of giving him cancer again or even a worse kind and possibly kill him.
I am so afraid for him yet I want him to look and feel normal he doesn't fit in anywhere. We have only taken 2 vacactions and learned very quickly he isn't tall enough to do much of anything. I no longer take him to amusement parks or state fairs cause of this. He wants to badly to be able to drive the go-carts but isn't tall enough for that. When we go places that charge by the age nobody charges us for him they think he is under 8 and it upsets him.
He has liked a lot of little girls he goes to school with but none will be his girlfriend cause of his size and the boys are just terrible to him. He can't play any sports cause of his size. We have always gotten thru all this fairly ok and he has learned to live with it but it doesn't make it better. A few more years he will be in high school and I know this is a major problem for him. I have talked with him about it and he wants to be taller but he doesn't want to be sick anymore.
He is very high risk for relapse with Leukemia. The doctors have told us the transplant didn't work he will probably never be cured and one day the chemo may stop working. There is a small chance he could have many years of remission and could live a fairly normal life. He has already lived longer than any of us expected.
I am so torn about all this I want to do what is right for him but I don't want to kill him either.
           Thanks for listening

Hi,growth hormones are use mostly for children that are small in size to induce growth spurts. Many basketball players have took them most, of the time at about 12 to 13 years old. This is one of the reason that you see so many tall players today. Also many wrestlers have took them as grown men,to enlarge there size.Interesting it does increase there size as much as 2 to 4 inches. Also makes there bones thicker. The problem is that it can induced liver cancer and has in many wrestlers and football players. One wrestler that comes to mind is big John Studd.A football player the legend Lye Alzedo who had a massive brain tumor from taking a mixture of steroids and growth hormones, and he himself told the story before he sadly pass away.Growth hormones do have a great purpose if talking under a good doctor, and being watch while taking them. However in your case I would not!If you would like to add size you might speak to a doctor about giving you limited doses of testosterone or maybe even anavar.I think anavar is made under a different name now,it is a fairly safe drug if given by doctor.Testosterone is safe and in many cases can improved a mans life very much. You will get some what larger and stronger. But take it on a limted time frame.Short peroids of time with plenty of time off!Good luck.

IGF-1 is an anabolic hormone.  In the diet it is most commonly found in milk.  It is an anti-aging remedy for people over 40years old that helps to regererate tissue cells and helps bodies to maintain bone density.  There is some muscle buildup where wasting has already been.  It increases all cell growth, including Cancer cells that may be dormant in the body, including prostate cancer and cause the cancer to arise much earlier than it normally would.  If you are looking to "bulk up" for one month, this is not your answer.  Men can only bulk up according to their genetic makeup.  Look to the men in your family.  If they have the bulky 6-pack bodies, then you can too with alot of daily work, but if they don't you won't either.  Sad but true.
