long term scrotum skin itch

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I've had an rash-like condition on my scrotum skin for several years now.  Below are a list of descriptions, let me know if you have any idea what this could be:

- history: I've had an rash near the groin area (between inner thigh and scrotum) but for what I'm concerned now it's certainly located on the skin of the scrotum
- specifically, the rash/condition locates on the skin between the folds of scrotum and penis base
- the condition is somewhat long term, it's been at least a couple of years, the real itchy sensation comes and goes though (at times it doesn't itch), and the itch gets more pronounced when I scratch it.
- the rash area is scale-like with slightly raised bumps, looks very much like coarse leather skin (leather that have creases and slightly RAISED bumps); here's a picture of leather texture I'm referring too that I've pulled from the internet, (don't worry, not a shot of my rash)
http://www.noctua-graphics.de/images/download/tex/skin/leath01.jpg
- strangly enough, the leathery area is only on the skin of the left side of my scrotum sack (divided by that vein that runs down the sack); it's NOT on the right side of the sack or right side of penis base
- when dry, the rash area is slighly "whiter" than adjacent skin; whiteness may be dried skin?
- the rash area is slightly shiny compared to the adjacent skin
- i don't want to sway you towards eczema but some family members does have eczema (nothing too major) on their foot, arm, etc.
- Is this genital warts, herpes or jock itch? Or why can't it be warts?

THANKS!

You may want to check the type of detergent for you clothes. You might be having a reation to it. Or if you shave, the type of lotion/cream may be the cause. I agree with the other person. See a doc since it's a prolong issue.

I'm sure you must have visited a dermatologist about it, considering it's been going on for years.  What did he/she say?

If you haven't gone to one, go.  That way you'll know for sure.
