mix of symptoms blurry vision, dizzy, weakness, b/p

Hubby 50, severe hypotension last year with no known cause ever determined. Now occ hypertensive but responsive to meds (takes only one type as needed or gets too low again). Ruled out any cardiac issues, stress tests, echo, EKG etc... hx of cervical fusion and recent lumbar fusion both successful. He has "episodes" where he feels weak, blurred vision, and has a brief slight elevation in b/p. Also has some weird sensation to back of his head (not neck) usually all goes away with complete bedrest. No common factor causing symptoms but is increasing in frequency and length (more severe visual loss as well from blurry, to cloudy to lost vision last time). Thyroid level and blood sugars are normal, perhaps a bit low normal for blood sugars. Any ideas as to what is causing this??? no stress link that is obvious, no real theories from doctors either?

Hi,
May be he should consult a Neurologist, take an MRI of the brain to see if there is any problem. A study of adrenal glands and its hormone levels may be also done to ensure there is no adrenal cysts.Does he get head aches or pain in any part of his body?

Hmm... I usually dont take a page out of my personal file close to home but the symptoms your describing fitts well in to my mothers.

It is a bit far fetched but ask your GP for a consultation for a TIA in the occipital lobe region. It could be that hes suffered a small stroke some time a go in this area, it can cause hypertension and high bp as well as disturbing your vision. it would how ever not be "episodes" that pass in a few hours but over a few weeks or being persistent, make sure the blood suggar is not to low as this is dangerous for brain function it needs to be around 5+ if messuerd.
