pain after robotic surgery

pain after robotic surgery

Surgery was on Thursday, 10/21. Today is Sunday. I have much difficulty getting up from sitting. When I walk I have a sever burning pain on the left side of my groin. My testicles and penis are swollen and purple as a large plum. I called the visiting nurse and she said to continue with all the meds. These symptoms are common with some people. We all heal differently. My question is how long can this be expected to last?  I'm going to call the surgeon tomorrow morning if there is no improvement.

This discussion is related to some wicked pain...no clue what could be.....

First off you did not disclose the reason or type of surgery that was performed.
I had a vasectomy in 1999 and ended up with a hematoma a day after the procedure. I saw a locum doc and was told that this was normal after the vasectomy. The day after my scrotum was the size of a large orange. I saw the locum again. This time she sent me back to the surgeon. As soon as he saw my scrotum he booked the OR and performed emergency surgery to remove the hematoma.

After the surgery my left testicle was fixed in the scrotum and felt like it was attatched to the scrotal skin it would no longer move freely. There also was a small hole in the scrotum that never closed.

About a year later I was seen  by my urologist due to problems urinating and a neurogenic bladder. I showed the little hole and he told me it was nothing to worry about.
A week later I ended up in the local hospital as I felt very ill and my scrotum had swolen to the size of a grapefruit. After about a week in the local hospital the scrotal skin split open and I was sent to the urologist in the city. On my birthday I underwent an emergency orichiectomy due to a staph infection in my left testicle. I spent the next week in isolation. They left the scrotum open to heal from the inside out. They were unsure if they had the infection under control. It took over three months before the scrotum closed.
As a result I now have to take monthly testosterone injections.

I donot believe that the swelling that you mention is normal. Get a second opinion. I wish that I did.

All the best

Ron
