prostate infection

I went to the doctor last week with lower backpains and a tingling sensation when I urinated.  I was diagnosed with a prostate infection and given Ciprofloxacin (500mg) for 10 days.  I finished the medicine yesterday.  The tingling went away and the pains lessened.  This morning, my partner and I had sex, I ejaculated, and everything felt fine except that my scrotum was a bit sensitive, but not unbearable.  I proceeded to urinate just fine, then there was a blockage in my stream.  I felt something being forced out of my penis, thinking it was left-over semen, but then checked the toilet and found a thick, small dark red blood clot. No pain before, during, or after, and my urine is running clear, but needless to say...I'm freaked out!  Was it the last of my infection getting out, or should my partner and I be concerned?

Ask your doctor to get a PSA test done, this is a good way of finding out how your Prostate is going, I suffered with Prostatitis for a long time and was on Doryxcyline antibiotic for nearly 12 months, at no stage did I get blood in my urine or semen, the Urologist that examined me told me to mastubate every day, seems this helps to clear the infection, I did as I was told, I am telling you this because at no time did I have any trace of blood in my semen, dont leave things to long I dont need to tell you how important a healthy prostate is.

Chris;

Stuff like that can occur in prostate or urinary tract infections.  It's called frank hematuria, and there are a whole host of things that could cause it, including prostatitis or prostate infections.  I'd say it's not something to lose a ton of sleep over, but you should definitely follow up with your doctor.  They can do a quick urine test to see if you are still bleeding.
