reoccuring yeat infections

by Sabina2, Jun 05, 2007 12:00AM
I am a 33 year old woman, who recently became sexually active with my boyfriend. We have had unprotected sex from time to time, but mostly use condoms. I began having yeast infections and vaginitis after taking birth control pills, I then stopped taking them thinking that would end the infections. I never itched or suffered with any real discomfort with the infections, but within the last 2 weeks I have begun to itch very bad and I am feeling soreness and discomfort in my vaginal area. My boyfriend said that he now has a burning sensation while urinating, and he said he has never experienced that before. We are only sexually active with each other and I want to know if this is merely a yeast infection in both of us, or could it be some sexually transmitted disease? I keep reading different symptoms for different infections and am just becoming more paranoid. Please help!

You both have a yeast infection. Taken any antibiotics lately? Also, I heard that something in condoms can cause it. It will spread back and forth so abstain until both are cured. Try some probiotics from a health food store, it works great. Also some plain sugar free yogurt will help. Monistat sold otc will help you and the cream will help bf. I have heard that the yogurt or white vinegar will also help bf. Do not have sex until you both are completely free of infection as it will never clear up. Your birth control is NOT causing it. Probiotics will help adjust the friendly flora in your digestive tract that is thrown off when yeast is present, so I would definitely start there. I take then every time I take any kind of antibiotics because I always get a yeast infection from them. If that does not do the trick your dr. can prescribe some diflucan or something similar. I would suggest the probiotics and yogurt first as I am sure it will help. Best of luck and let me know if I can help with any questions.
